Congratulations to Frank and Jennifer today who celebrated their Wedding at the Lovely Tewin Bury Farm. 

So this week I was lucky enough to be able to play at the St Gallen Tattoo in Switzerland. Take a look at some of the photos below and there are also videos of the spectacle available.

So it was great to be competing up in Scotland again – Even if the weather was up to its usual tricks. 

Today’s wedding was extra-special in that I was actually playing for my sister.

 

After another enjoyable season with the band and some surprisingly admirable weather for Glasgow Green this year we achieved a placing of 12th – however a much more notable placing of 5th for our MSR performance in the qualifier. Thank you to everyone else in the band for making it such an enjoyable experience once again

Once again for St Patrick’s Day Parade the heavens opened (I’m not sure I’ve had a dry one yet) but I’m glad to say that my pipes stayed in great condition – I’m also finally getting used to my new bag (and I’ve had it over a year now)

Unfortunately we were unable to qualify for the final this year – however a good time was had by all.

On the 16 November, 11 pipers from the University of Bedfordshire Pipe Band took part in the Christmas Parade at Westfield Shopping Centre, Stratford, London. The purpose of our invitation was to be part of a parade to lead Father Christmas into the shopping centre. The 12 Days of Christams was the theme of the parade and we were to be the “11 Pipers Piping”.

Dick and Dom, the children’s TV presenters switched on the Christmas lights during the hour long parade which included Morris Dancers, Ballerinas, Dancers from Bollywood. This was all followed by an ellaborate firework display and all in sight of the Olympic Stadium. Amazingly, it was a very enjoyable affair in an extremely impressive shopping centre.

Heading to Glasgow again for the worlds this year saw a resounding third (equal second) place,  with one judge even placing us first in piping. Thank you to everyone that made this weekend so successful, even through the worst of the scottish weather.

Moving back to their home at Ashbourne this year,we were once again successful  in the English championships as we won the MSR competition
